Data Collect using CSV Upload


Skyl’s CSV Upload is another method of data collection through which a user can upload large amounts of data to the dataset using a .csv file format.

  1. Select “CSV Upload” under the “Data Collection” module


  2. Select the “Upload CSV” link-button


  3. An Upload CSV widget will appear


    Before uploading your .csv file, you must make sure it has the same schema as the dataset

  4. Select “Download Dataset Schema”. From here, you can view the schema of the dataset and compare it with the schema of your existing .csv file. You can also choose to download the dataset schema as a template for data collection


  5. Once you have confirmed that your .csv file has the same schema as your dataset, you can proceed to drag-in your file to the blue section or select the blue section and choose the appropriate file. From here, uploading the dataset begins


  6. To preview the data, upload and choose which data to add to an existing dataset. From here you can also create a new dataset and add it there


  7. Select “Upload” to send your data to existing dataset

  8. Alternatively, you can select “Add as New Dataset”. Proceed by giving your new dataset a name and description, then select the “Upload” button


  9. A widget will pop up that displays the uploaded .csv files

Skyl’s Form Based is an another method of data collection which can be done from Skyl Web Collaborator app. You can create a job to collect data with any number of collaborators. Each collaborator can login to the Web Collaborator App to start collecting data.

  1. Select “Form Based” under the “Data Collection” module


  2. Select the “Create a Collaborator Job” link


  3. Configure Collect Job

  4. Monitor job performance from the ‘Form Based’ and ‘Overview’ pages

Skyl’s Collect Mobile is another method of data collection navigated through the Skyl Mobile app. You can create a job for data collection with any number of collaborators for via mobile application. Each collaborator can install the Skyl Mobile App to start collecting data.

  1. Select “Collect Mobile” under the “Data Collection” module


  2. Select the “Create a Collaborator Job” link


  3. Configure Collect Job

  4. Monitor the job and job performance from ‘Collect Mobile’ and ‘Overview’ pages

Skyl’s Collect API is a method of data collection through which data can be uploaded directly from its source. You can connect the API to your application and start collecting data immediately.

  1. Select “Collect API” under the “Data Collection” module


  2. Select “Get Project Access Token” to navigate to the ‘Project Access Token’ page. From here, create a Project Access Token


  3. In the “Project Access Token” page, select “Create Access Token” to generate an access token


  4. Copy Access Token


  5. Return to the ‘Collect API page’ and select the required code snippet


  6. Replace “PROJECT_ACCESS_TOKEN” with the Project Access Token

  7. Under ‘free_text’ replace “VALUE_OF_THIS_COLUMN” with the text that will be categorized

  8. Under ‘category’ replace “VALUE_OF_THIS_COLUMN” with the category of the text
    (Note: This is optional)

  9. Integrate the code into your system

This section contains detailed information about the collected text. This includes an overview, meta information about the text, statistical data about the ingest source, date of collection, and the category of the collected text.

Here, you can also rename the columns of the dataset.

  1. Select ‘Dataset’ under ‘Data Collection”


  2. To view the full text, select the ‘show more’ link


  3. Select in the ‘Text’ column to see the overview of your dataset


  4. Select in the ‘Category’ column to view the category statistics


  5. Select in the’ Collect Date and Time’ column to view statistics concerning the text’s collection date


  6. Select in the Ingest Source Summary column to view statistics focused on ingest sources


  7. Select to edit the column header and descriptions

Data Collection Overview’ is a dashboard that provides statistical information about data collection performance every data collection source including:

  1. Collect API

  2. Form Based

  3. Mobile

  4. CSV Upload

On this page you will find 2 widgets:

  1. The “Trends” widget displays information on the amount of data uploaded during different time periods ( Last 7 days, Last 15 days, Last 30 days)


  2. The “Statistics” widget displays statistics around the dataset

    • The ‘Request’ column displays the number of data collection requests that could be uploaded to the dataset
    • The ‘Collected’ column displays the amount of data that was successfully collected
    • The ‘Exceptions’ column displays the requests which were not fulfilled due to an error


  3. Click on exception number to open a slider with detailed information about errors
